Martin grew up in a Christian home in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. However, attending church every week only served to boost his pride. Through some painful life experiences, God humbled him in his early 20s. He then became obedient to the faith and grew spiritually through the process of one-on-one discipleship.
A founding member of Grace Community Bible Church, Martin was appointed deacon. Seven years later he was recognised as an elder, and was subsequently asked to commence a church plant in Melbourne’s western suburbs. GraceWest Bible Church started in April 2010 with Martin as its part-time pastor. In January 2012 he and his family moved to the western suburbs.
Martin is a fitter and turner by trade, and used his trade experience as the basis of a teaching qualification. He taught trade subjects in secondary school for a period of 10 years. During this time he was able to gradually devote more time to pastoring, and now pastors full time.
Martin has completed a Master of Arts in Biblical Counselling through The Masters College in Los Angeles. He and his wife Rosemary have three teenage children.
